      • Mayonnaise: A generous squeeze of Japanese mayonnaise adds creaminess.

Takoyaki was first created in Osaka in the 1930s by a man named Ikeda Tomekichi, who wanted to make a quick snack with octopus. It became hugely popular and remains a classic food in Osaka.
